Donors - Bring your ID

We need to see your ID EVERY TIME you donate blood

American Red Cross volunteer blood donors are required to provide identification before donating at a blood donation center or blood drive. If a prospective donor is unable to provide appropriate identification, he or she will not be permitted to donate.

We implemented this policy to ensure that our donors:

  • are properly identified in Red Cross records
  • are not currently disqualified from donating
  • can be reached for further follow up, if needed

What is acceptable identification?

Bring your Red Cross blood donor card or a picture ID. If you don’t have either of these forms of identification, please bring a current United States or foreign government issued photo ID. If you do not have a photo ID you can present two forms of current identification which may include but are not limited to your Social Security Card, Personal Check Book with name and address, Vehicle registration, Credit Card and Club or Museum membership card.
